Primula denticulata

April’s ‘Plant of the Month’ is Primula denticulata (also known as the drumstick primula). Primula denticulata is an herbaceous perennial growing to 30cm. It has oval leaves with white, pale or deep purple flowers with a yellow eye.  The flowers are borne in dense rounded heads on the erect stems.  It will grow in full sun or partial shade in any aspect or soil in exposed or sheltered conditions.  It looks great in flower borders and beds in cottage or informal gardens or rock gardens.
